Wiki

I understand what a Wiki is, and I can see where it has it's uses, but yet again I am struggling to actually DO anything with the Wiki. End of story.

Struggling

Yes, weeks down the track, and I am still struggling. I have tried to post to the CCL Learn forum on Ning, but it tells me I need to be invited ?!?! On a positive note, I can see the benefits of a Ning for some groups, but personally would never use it. It is like a mini-Facebook but without every man and his dog being on your "friend" list.

Curiouser and Curiouser

I'm feeling a little like Alice in Wonderland at the moment, as I just tried to access Margot's blog but I got a message saying the url address was incorrect and I should check it. However, when I clicked on the link it took me there anyway !?!? But then I couldn't figure out how to post a reply to what Margot had written. Oh dear ...

Is this what they mean by a "Blogroll" ?

But wait, there's more. I think a blogroll is when you start blogging and you're "on a roll" and can't stop adding more and more. But, I digress ... My question is, why does the time of my post show as some random time in the evening, when I actually posted it in the afternoon ?

Asperger's

I suspect you would need a diagnosis of Asperger's syndrome to get on board with all the things on offer on the Web these days. Meaning no disrespect to those with Asperger's , or the computer geeks (undiagnosed Asperger's).

Flickr, Picasa etc

So far I have successfully uploaded some photos to Flickr, with the intention of easily making a collage for my daughter. However, I am still pfaffing around with all this many hours later. I could not see where in Flickr I could turn these images into a collage, but managed to find an interesting site called BigHugeLabs, which, surprisingly, is not a site dedicated to overweight Labrador dogs, but photos. I've already had a bit of a look around, managed to upload a photo set - but it didn't upload the whole set, so now it's back to the drawing board. I can see this "simple" exercise could take quite some time to accomplish (for me anyway !) but hopefully once I've sussed it out I'll be able to do it easily the next time...

RSS Feeds

Pleasingly, this all seems very user-friendly to me, and I have set up a number of RSS feeds to see how it works for me. I also already get some of this information via email, so it will be interesting to see whether one path suits better than the other. Onwards and upwards ...

I think I've completed my homework now, and am getting the hang of the blogging thing. Have checked out Twitter, and I can't see the point of it really - although it is possible I am missing the point ... However, on randomly searching the Twitter site, I came up with a gem of information to share with you all: Did you know??? - The Sesame Street characters Bert & Ernie were named after the cop & the taxi driver from the movie It's a Wonderful Life. TTFN

Thank goodness for Vanessa !

After a terrifying first session, and a rather sleepless night, thankfully I have turned up to work this morning and have the superb bonus of being able to tap into Vanessa's knowledge ! What will I do when she leaves us today and heads off to Central and then Upper Riccarton ?!?! Luckily, I also have wonderful Wendy. It makes a bit more sense, I think !?!?!

Wave 1 Session 1

Hmm, first CCL Learn session, and already I feel that I am way behind the rest of the group with regard to background/basic knowledge on the entire subject ! I feel the need to run screaming into the carpark, but will attempt to put into place some of the 7 habits of effective learners by feeling the fear and doing it anyway.
